Low Level Laser Therapy - Super Pulsed Laser

What is laser therapy?

LASER stands for light amplification by the stimulated emission of radiation. Low level laser therapy (LLLT) is designed to help the body’s own repair processes in cases of chronic and long term conditions. Low level laser therapy helps by increasing and improving the body’s healing function.

LLLT can help in the treatment of the following conditions:

  • Chronic Pain
  • Acute Injuries
  • Muscle Spasm
  • Achilles Tendinitis
  • Joint Injuries
  • Sprains & Strains
  • Arthritis
  • Calcaneal Spur
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Sciatica Pain
  • Bursitis
  • Sports Injuries

LLLT works by achieving the following:

  • Activation of RNA and DNA synthesis.
  • Creates the energy density necessary to deliver light energy to the target tissue.
  • Increased cell metabolism in the form of ATP production.
  • Improvement of microcirculation.
  • Reinforcement of collagen synthesis and reduced fibrous tissue formation.
  • Anti-inflammatory response.
  • Edema reduction.
  • Pain reduction.
  • Stimulation of T-cell production.
  • Increased levels of prostaglandin synthesis.

What results can I expect from LLLT?

Depending on the severity of the condition being treated, some patients experience improvement immediately following treatment. However most patients experience relief within 6 to 8 treatments.

Are there any possible side effects?

  • As the body stimulates the recovery process, there may be an inflammatory response with warmth, redness, pain or a slight swelling to the area.
  • There may be an initial anaesthetic (pain-killing) effect. Be sure not to overuse your leg or foot at this time.
